A-Levels, Deadlines, Exams and Tears

Okay, so I basically have less than 2 weeks until all my exams, thankfully I’ve finished my Drama course so that’s one less thing to worry about, even though I’m pretty sure my grade for it won’t be amazing, still, one less thing for now. I have my first exam on the 11th May which is Psycology PY1, Textiles deadline on the 14th May, English Lit on the 15th May, then we break up for study leave (which I only get a weekend for ;[ ) and I have my last Psychology exam on the 18th and then that is my first year at college finished. Crazy.

A-Levels are seriously so hard, I did not expect how hard the jump from GCSE to A-Level was, but I think I’m doing okay so far, but I won’t jinx that.

To have a bit of a break from revision and work, I thought I’d write a list of all the things I’m going to do and have to look forward to, after my exams.

  1. Being able to blog more often and more interestingly
  2. I’d like to go to a few places I’ve never been to or not been to in a while like Chester and Llandudno
  3. Learning to drive
  4. Binge watching Netflix
  5. Actually having a social life, which is dormant at the moment
  6. Going to LONDON!!!!
  7. Staying up til 2am and lying in til 3pm
  8. Go to the gym more because FACT: sixth-form makes you fat if you don’t have a good metabolism
  9. Summer
  10. Not having to revise

I’ll leave it at 10 for now, but I am determined to make this summer good and I have a while to do it
Let me know of any fun ideas you’re planning so I can try them

Anastatia Contour Kit | Review

A few friends of mine went on a school trip to New York but (very sadly) I couldn't afford it so I asked a friend to pick me up the Anastatia contour pallet in light to medium if I gave her the money because I don't think you can buy it in the UK. I've wanted this pallet for so long because I basically have a moon head and really need a good product to hollow out cheek bones. The pallet is $40 and comes with 6 shades, these are Sand, Vanilla, Banana, Java, Fawn and Havanna.

I am not Make Up trained, I'd like to be but at the moment I'm 17 and doing A-Levels, so my knowledge is not the greatest but as far as I know the top row are supposed to be used as highlights and the bottom row to define features like cheek bones and jaw bones, and since I'm new to this I thought this would be a good product to start with.

So far, I really like how easily blendable it is and it seems like this kit is going to last me a while, I'm not quite sure how to use sand yet but I used banana under my eyes to cancel out the dark circles and vanilla on the top of my cheekbones to give it a natural highlight. I really love it and I'm so so happy with it.

If anyone has any tips to help me out, please let me know,

Rachel xoxo

My Everyday Make Up | April

April is the month where things really start to feel warmer and where it actually looks like spring. Days are longer and lighter and the sun isn't that rare a thing to see. With it starting to get a bit warmer and lighter I thought I show what my everyday make up is starting to look like.

I always like to start with a good base though (not on the picture) at the moment I've been using the Amie Morning Dew moisturiser to start off with and it gives a really nice matte finish (despite having dew in the title, I know, but it's really not dewy), then I'll go over with the Max Factor Face-Finity All Day Primer, to keep to make up on all day so it doesn't go patchy or rub off.

Throughout winter I'd been using the Mac Studio Face and Body foundation but that's such a heavy foundation so I thought I'd switch to something a bit lighter, the Bourjois Healthy Mix in the shade Light Vanilla. This foundation actually smells really nice and the shade is such a good match, however I do have my eyes on the Estée Lauder foundation at the moment, but we'll have to wait until next payday. I've been setting my foundation with the Bourjois Healthy Mix powder (not on the picture). In the shade Vanilla as well.

Also been using the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer to highlight under my eyes and get rid of any bags, (college does that to a person), but also to hide any blemeshis and discolourations.

To contour I've been using the Bourjois Highlighter + Universal Tan, obviously I've just been loving Bourjois this month and I didn't even realise! This is such a good and quick way to mark out those cheek bones for those of you like me who has a 'moon head', although my friend has just bought me the Anastatia Contour Kit, so I'm really excited to try that when I get hold of it but currently she is still in New York. With that I've also been using poise tint just to give my cheeks a little bit of colour, I'm not very big on blush shades, but I do love this and I love that benifit do minature versions of their products so you can try them before spending so much on a product you might not even like.

I'm a really big fan of the simple cat flick eye liner look as I wrote in a previous post so I didn't include any eyeliner but what I have been loving is the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, it really does make your lashes look false I always get asked if I'm wearing fake eyelashes if I wear it, at first I wasn't so keen but now I really love it and would 100% reccommend.

And last the lips, I've really been loving the Nars Audasious Lipstick in Raquel (also in a previous post), I just feel like it's a really nice spring-y shade and works with any outfit or occasion, if I've been feeling lazy though I'll just put the Naked Lipgloss in the shade Sesso which I got in my Naked On The Run Pallette.

What make up bits have you been loving, let me know,

Rachel xoxo

Exploring | Manchester

Even though manchester is the closest city to me, the only places I'd really been were the arnedale and oxford road. For my textiles project I had get my own images of architecture so I used that opportunity to explore and thought I'd share some of the pictures I got.

Lush | Haul

One shop I have to go into everytime I'm near is Lush, I love everything in it and it smells so good and plus 40% of the products a glittery so that's definitely a bonus. So I thought it'd be a good idea to do a little lush tag and show what I picked up for Easter and the stuff I already have and love.

So first are a few bits pi picked up from the Easter collection,
- Pot o'Gold, this actually smells divine, it smells like butterscotch and that's a beautiful smell
- Golden Egg, I haven't actually used this yet but I do love a bit of a glittery bath and if its anything like sparkles pumpkin, we're good
- Bunch of Carrots, I have actually used some of this and I did not expect it to make the amount of bubbles it did, would definitely reccommend
- Hoppity Poppity, also not used this yet but I'm expecting big things after all the santas I used at Christmas
- Easter Egg, I am a big fan of the dragon egg bath bomb, it was actually the first lush product I tried so I'm hoping this is the same but pink
- Rose Bubblebar, this smells beautiful, I've started putting it on my desk when revising to encourage me, very excited to try
- Immaculate Eggception Pink, how exciting is a bath bom that has two more bathbombs in it! Very exciting in my world so that's why I picked that one up

A few of my fave classics would be the Mask of Magniminty, it clears my skin up literally in like a day, if you've had a bit of a exam stress breakout like me, I would seriously reccommend you use this, they half in size after one use. Whoosh shower jelly is also a must during exam period, it smells so fresh and really help wake you up, plus it's really interesting because it's a jelly and I love that. Another love of mine are bubble bars in general, every single one smells beautiful.

What I'm not happy about though it's that when you order Lush online, they've stopped sending the clear bags, but that's my only complaint.

Rachel xoxo

Best Eye-Liner's for Winged Looks | Review

One of my biggest problems is getting the right eyeliner for winged eyes. Winged eyeliner is one of my favourite makeup looks for every day and it can seriously be so easy so this post is just a little review on each of my favourite eyeliner pens incase anyone else is having the same problem I had.

1) Bourjois Mega Liner in Ultra Black - this one is the one I find myself reaching for the most often, the tip isn't the normal eyeliner pen tip, it is sort of like a highlighter and this one last so long and is really easy to apply, however for a while I found it hard to get that perfect point on the end of this because of the shape of the nib.

2) L'oréal Super Liner Perfect Slim - the overall colour of this comes out slightly grey but still a good liner if you want the thin subtle line and really easy to create the pointed flick, for a very long time I used this in combination with the Bourjois to get that jet black line with a even point.

3) Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner - I've never had an eyeliner so different as the push-up liner, it actually took me half a year to be able to use it but when you get to grips with it, it's your best friend, except when you're trying to get it off, it just doesn't want to leave you face. But really good for long wear and making a prominent line.

4) Smashbox Limitless Liquid Liner Pen - My all time favourite eyeliner. I've never loved an eyeliner more, but because it's so expensive and running out I'm trying not to use it as much :(. It's so easy to use and always looks perfect and literally takes like 5 seconds per eye.

5) Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner - this is basically a pretty good dupe of the Smashbox one, it glides on really easy even though the tip does runout quite quick so be sure to use the side

I thought I'd try this sort of blog since I've never done it before, let me know what you thought

The Past Two Weeks

For once, I've actually been pretty busy the past couple of weeks, I've gone to parties, had work, had mocks, college so I'm feeling pretty productive about everything right now, but of course I'm going to crash and burn soon so I thought I'd share a few things in picture form that have been going on during to explain why I've been awol on my blog.

So basically I've been to 2 parties, shopping, got a new coat, working, finished an amazing book ( to come soon ) and a cheeky look at the lush Easter range all while having consecutive mocks.
